If you’ve been around Holy Cross over the past year, you probably already know that the youth will attend the National Youth Gathering (NYG) in New Orleans. Most likely you have been invited to their fundraising events and activities! (In their defense, it takes a lot to put 14 people on cross-country flights and in hotel rooms for almost a week!)
The LCMS Youth Gathering is held every three years, a spacing that provides students with the opportunity to attend at least one gathering during their high school years. This year the NYG meets July 16-20 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA, around the theme “In Christ Alone.”
During the five days of the NYG, our youth will spend time together in God’s word, worship, service, and fellowship with thousands of other youth from across the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The NYG can be a real mountaintop experience as students and adults come together as a community of God’s people to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith, and their Lutheran identity.
In addition to enjoying beignets and participating in NYG events, the students will also experience some New Orleans hospitality on a riverboat excursion provided by The Northwest District featuring expansive views of the city, some of that great New Orleans cuisine, and great music! They will return to Spokane on July 21.
