God has called us to belong, believe, and bear fruit in Jesus!
Holy Cross is first and foremost a place to find belonging. From the moment you enter our doors with gracious hospitality our intent is that you find a sense of belonging. Our LORD invites us all to belong to him, to be his Children through faith in Jesus Christ. The scriptures remind us in 1 John 3:1, "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called his children; and so we are." The LORD assures us all that we have a place where we belong in him.
Holy Cross as an organization belongs to the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We are committed to proclaiming the saving work of Jesus Christ through which God invites us all to be his forgiven people. This is the good news, or Gospel, which the Old and New Testament Scriptures of the Bible unanimously acclaim. If you have never seriously considered this good news for yourself or wonder how you can find belonging as part of God's forgiven people, it's simple. God simply invites us to believe and follow him.
Believing is also an important part of who we are at Holy Cross. We are people of faith who put our trust in what God has told us in his word, the Bible. We know that we are saved, "By grace...through faith and this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God" as the Bible tells in Ephesians 2:8. Our beliefs are focused on Jesus Christ and we know that our faith grows through hearing his word. "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ," we are assured in Romans 10:17. So a Holy Cross you can expect to hear the words of Jesus and about Jesus in our worship, in small groups, and in our Bible studies to strengthen you and uplift you to live a life of faith in him.

This belonging and believing has a purpose in our lives. The LORD intends that we will bear fruit for him. That fruit shows up in our attitudes and actions as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control," which the Bible in Galatians 5:22 tells us are the fruits of God's Spirit. That fruit also shows up in lives of service, which we live for others around us as a service to the Lord and not only to people. Jesus said that if we belong to him, and believe in him, we will bear this kind of fruit. "I am the vine; you are the branches; Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing," said Jesus in John 15:5. If you would like to see your life be more fruitful, take Jesus up on his offer to belong to and believe in him. At Holy Cross this is what motivates us to be active in the community around us leading with loving service. As you look through this website and our newsletters you will find opportunity after opportunity to plug into a life of loving service to the broader Spokane community, to our Inland Northwest region, as well as to those in other parts of our country and the world.
