Faith Comes By Hearing, And Hearing Through the Word of Christ!
People of God in this world “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). It takes faith to live with assurance that God cares for us when life deals a significant blow: illness, job loss, or hurt from a so-called friend. It takes faith to believe that God loves and finds value in each of us in spite of our failings. It takes faith to trust that God is a God of justice in a world filled with injustice. Scripture says “Faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17) and that “All the promises of God find their yes in him” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Preaching the word of Christ Jesus (his death, his resurrection, his forgiveness) is at the center of every worship service here. It is the core of who we are. As a people called to BELONG, BELIEVE, and BEAR FRUIT in JESUS, we cannot without abiding in his word. Jesus said, “apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
