Harvest Festival: A Different Look
We are not going to be able to host our normal “Harvest Festival” as the crowds are just too big for 2020. So, we are working on a new form of outreach to the community which will involve delivering bags of candy along with some form of kid friendly Christian activities and a form of witness to families in our neighborhood. We will deliver these bags to different groups within our local community for distribution. If you would like to volunteer to help assemble or purchase supplies for bags, please call Susan at 509-483- 4218. She will have a list of needs!
Mission Spotlight: A Child’s Hope
Every month Holy Cross sends funds of support to worthy ministries that proclaim and faithfully exhibit the gospel of Christ. For the month of October, we have chosen to help support the ministry of A Child’s Hope Spokane.
Bible Studies at Holy Cross this Fall
“The work is great and widely spread. We are separated on the wall, far from one another,” wrote Nehemiah about the efforts to rebuild Jerusalem as the people of God returned from exile (Nehemiah 4:19). They were practicing social distance, not because of a viral threat, but because they were rebuilding walls all around the city. Instead of all working together in one spot, they spread out, each family group worked on a different section of the wall.
40 Days for Life in Spokane begins September 23 The City-Wide Effort is Being Directed by Kathryn Amdahl
From the start of COVID-19 restrictions in March our Holy Cross Board of Directors has viewed our decision to suspend in-person activity as a willful response in love for our community, not one forced by government mandates. Pastor Mike participated in a joint letter singed by more than 70 LCMS pastors across WA and also supported by our District President, which encouraged our Governor to make allowances for communities of faith to worship in-person in Phase 2.
Mission Spotlight: MacKenzi Sandberg & World Race Gap Year
“Something New” is becoming a normal phrase these days and so it is with Bible Day Camp this year. We are implementing “Mini-Bible Day Camps” into our schedule of events and hopefully will begin the last half of July and continue through August. Each camp will have only 10 kids at most, run by 2-3 leaders, and each will have different themes.
